ABOUT MADELIENE RAE PAINTER

My name is Madeliene Rae Painter. I graduated from the University of North Carolina with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in filmmaking, with a concentration in directing. I grew up in a navy family, therefore there are many places I once called home. I found my love of filmmaking through another passion of mine, horseback riding. I began to film my group riding lessons so we could replay the course and improve our equitation. From there I started to write little sketches and short stories that I wanted to act in and shoot. I dragged my one and only best friend at the time along, and the storytelling took off from there.

My time at UNCSA is difficult to muster into few words. It has been the most profound experience so far in my life. I have developed my craft as a filmmaker, gained confidence in my ideas, and myself. I learned how to tell a great story and how to communicate my vision, even surprised myself by discovering my ability to act in a few student films. I have felt more at home on this little campus than I have at any one of the nine places I previously called ‘home’. It will be bittersweet to leave this place, but I am excited for the plans I have set for the future.

Now I am working in Los Angeles, California as a script supervisor. I hope to crew on many more features, commercials, tv series, and more.
